What kind of defence estate properties does Concept work on?
As part of Axis CLC, our teams work on 12,500 SFAs across more than 20 English and two Welsh counties, working in collaboration with MOD asset manager AMEY in a longstanding partnership. With properties range in size from one to two-bedroom flats all the way through to mansion sized properties, all of which are domestic homes to Service personnel and their families. We have also undertaken barracks refurbishment works to training blocks with classrooms, offices and onsite staff canteen/mess facilities.
What stands out in your service to the MOD?
We work closely with the MOD to fulfil their specific objectives, with minimal disruption to the families living in homes across the defence estate. We carefully plan and stage our works while working closely with AMEY to ensure consistency in finish and look.
Why do you work on so many Voids?
Some sections of the Armed Forces, like The British Army will sometimes have a requirement to relocate entire units every few years. This requires a complex operation to prepare large volumes of void properties ready for new service families, usually during the school holidays. That’s why we make 2,500 void properties ready for new service families each year – sometimes at the rate of 107 per week.
What is Amey?
Amey manages the Ministry of Defence’s Regional Prime and National Housing Prime contracts including the repair and maintenance of service family homes and other assets on the MOD estate. We deliver a range of refurbishment services to enhance the safety and comfort of military housing assets for residents across the UK.
What are the decarbonisation services you offer for MOD housing?
Ensuring MOD homes meet modern living standards for MOD personnel and families we offer a range of upgrades that focus on sustainability and energy efficiency measures. These include providing External Wall Insulation, which improves thermal efficiency, modern windows and doors and energy efficient technologies to cut carbon emissions.
