Axis won the ‘Highly Decorative’ category, awarded by the Painting and Decorating Association (PDA) for our specialist decoration programme at Painter Stainers Hall in London. Our traditional skills re-created the original golden glory of the Banqueting Hall in this landmark listed building on behalf of the Worshipful Company of Painter Stainers, one of the oldest of London’s guilds.

Traditional French polishing and lacquer work as well as regilding of gold leaf under our direction by a Master Gilder achieved beautiful period-accurate finishes throughout the Banqueting Hall. The PDA Award judges noted: “The shields that were re-gilded were a fine example of the craft. A great finish to the work to produce a very bright environment for hosting functions.”
