Concept achieves Gold with Supply Chain Sustainability School

Community|

Concept Building Services are committed to helping the environment in which we live, and this commitment is shown by receiving gold status from the Supply Chain Sustainability School.

To earn this award, we have shown the following;

  • Offices – initiatives have been implemented in all offices to promote conscious energy usage. This has been achieved through toolbox talks to educate employees and signage to raise awareness. The progress is monitored during quarterly office audits, where any actions are addressed, and appropriate improvements are made.
  • Sites – audit documents have been amended to include on-site energy usage, promoting discussions with site teams and contractors surrounding energy consumption issues.
  • Vehicles – promotion of car sharing and the use of public transport where applicable.
  • Materials – encouragement of using local suppliers and ensuring accurate orders are placed to avoid unnecessary waste. Additionally, clients are encouraged to consider sustainable material resourcing and more environmentally friendly options such as LED lighting and solar panels.
  • Waste – ensuring waste is appropriately segregated by waste stream to enable correct disposal and recycling. We are proud to have a 98% recycle rate on our waste last year.

Concept Sponsored young British Skier strikes Gold

Community|

Concept’s support of Candice Bomberg has aided this young British athlete to hit the top in her first year of senior competitions. The talented British skier has really impressed with 8 podium top 3 finishes at highly competitive international races and ending a very creditable 8th Overall (6th U21 and 4th U18) in the Arnold Lunn World Cup Slalom Standings for upcoming skiers from over 50 nations.

Other notable results at the national finals in Tignes, France included being crowned the British Slalom U18 champion, U21 Runner-Up and Overall third. In the Giant Slalom she also took the U18 title and was the U21 Runner Up.

It was a similar story at the English Championships in Bormio, Italy where she took Gold in the U18 Slalom and Giant slalom with silver U21 and Senior Runner-up in the Slalom and was also 3rd Overall senior.

Her tough first FIS racing season saw her compete in 45 races over five months across 17 alpine locations.

Unsurprisingly her achievements have been rewarded by a call up into the British Senior FIS racing squad and she is highlighted here in this GB Snowsport Selection Press Release

Candice was born in France with dual nationality and pre-
pandemic was both a French and British Junior Skiing Champion in Slalom. She also finished an impressive 4th in her international youth debut.

Preparation for season 2022/3 is well under way with a series of glacier skiing camps in the French Alps mixed with tough gym sessions, hiking or mountain biking.

Candice said of her Concept Sponsorship:

“I am really grateful to Concept for their generous support, this has allowed me to compete internationally at the highest levels – I am fully committed and dedicated to take my talent as far as it will go, so thanks for being a very important part of my journey”

In September she will head to Argentina to train on snow in Patagonia for a month and represent Great Britain in the LatAm Cup Series of races.

Next seasons goals will include targeting the European Youth Olympic Festival (U18’s) in Italy and the World Junior Championships (U21’s) at Meribel, France and further climbing her way up the World Rankings.

Future trajectory and ambitions will be to race for GB at Europa Cup level, progressing onto World Cups and Senior World Championships with an eye on competing at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Cortina Italy when she will be only 20 years old.

It is worth noting that Candice has one more season as a U18 and four more years in the U21 category.

500 Cups of Tea, 1200 Sandwiches, 1200 Cups of Soup, 1200 Hot Meals!!!

Community|

Feeding 1200 people in a month is quite normal for the charity ‘Hope for Food’, based in the Bournemouth area of Dorset, and Concept Building Services (Southern) Limited, working closely with an FM manager from Mitre, were only too pleased to lend their support to this South Coast based Charity when the opportunity arose.

The operation, run and managed by a small committee who act as trustees, is 100% made up of volunteers who between them give over 7,000 hours a year cooking and serving food in the soup kitchens, which they run five evenings a week. As with all charities, ‘Hope for Food’ relies heavily on the support of the local community and is always looking to build strong links with surrounding businesses. In the same breath, Concept have regularly been one of those companies to step up to the plate when approached and so, when we were able to assist with an internal structural request, it was a simple positive reply.

Of course, although some of our Fabric, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers might profess to be more than capable cooks we felt their skill sets might be more applicable to the charity’s needs by helping them move into a new distribution centre at West Howe Industrial Estate. Concept staff dismantled all the racking, primarily used for storage at the old base, and re-instated it in their new premises at Unit 13, in such fashion, that it offered a seamless transition for the soup kitchen operation.  ‘Hope for Food’ continues to be busy supporting the homeless, disadvantaged people and families in poverty in the Bournemouth area. Their recipients can be male, female, young and old, but usually they are just poor, vulnerable individuals who are hungry. For us at Concept, it was just a pleasure to assist in this small manner to help maintain the smooth running of their invaluable services.
